Borders bookstore has all you need for wholesome entertainment at home. In one single Borders bookstore you can achieve happiness - on the cheap! Whatever you’re into, Borders has it. Like cooking? Checkout a cookbook. Like eating? Checkout a book on dining spots. Like TV? Get a couple DVDs.
Right now at Borders bookstore you can get cookbooks for 30% Off.
Books available right now include Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously - the title you no doubt remember from the movie that has come out this summer starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.
Description: Powell needs something to break the monotony of her life. So, she invents a deranged assignment: She will take her mother’s dog-eared copy of Julia Child’s 1961 classic, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” and cook all 524 recipes in the span of just one year.
Another food-related book available for 30% Off is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives by Guy Fieri. If you don’t know Guy from The Food Network, then you know him from the TGI Friday’s commercials (bleach blonde hipster and connoisseur of food).
Description: The Food Network star takes readers on a tour of America’s most colorful diners, drive-ins, and dives, in this tie-in to his enormously popular television show. B&w photos throughout.
With the Borders DVD deal, you can buy any TV DVD set, and get a second set half off. Among the offers is Dexter: The Third Season. If you haven’t seen Dexter, then you’re missing out on one of the most critically acclaimed shows in decades. Somehow, someway, the show will have you rooting for a serial killer who “takes out the trash” and murders people who get away with horrendous crimes. Dexter is a sort of Robin Hood that kills evil-doers and helps the victimized. This show has won numerous awards - watch just one episode and you’ll know why.
Another show I caught on to late is HBO’s Entourage. As popular as this show is, odds are you know all about it. Entourage chronicles the highlights and lowlights of success for budding moviestar Vince and his entourage. Easily the best part of Entourage is the showstealing Ari played by Jeremy Piven who is now seeing widescreen success, starring in The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

The under reported story of the year are the looming plastic bag bans. The County of Maui legislation has already passed its bag ban and it will be in effect January, 01, 2011. The Los Angeles City Council voted to ban plastic shopping bags from stores. Shoppers can either bring their own bags or pay 25 cents for a paper or biodegradable bag. This law goes into effect July 1, 2010. Since Los Angeles is such a major city, other cities are following suit.
This is a drastic every-day life change that reminds me of the cell phone ban on drivers. There was a high demand for bluetooth devices and we all had to shell out the dough.
Now you can be ahead of the curve by buying reusable and disposable bags early.
Just Bag It Hawaii is one such company that sells reusable bags - and they’re actually quite stylish.
