The under reported story of the year are the looming plastic bag bans. The County of Maui legislation has already passed its bag ban and it will be in effect January, 01, 2011. The Los Angeles City Council voted to ban plastic shopping bags from stores. Shoppers can either bring their own bags or pay 25 cents for a paper or biodegradable bag. This law goes into effect July 1, 2010. Since Los Angeles is such a major city, other cities are following suit.
This is a drastic every-day life change that reminds me of the cell phone ban on drivers. There was a high demand for bluetooth devices and we all had to shell out the dough.
